I have been fielding calls and visiting clients in force for the last two weeks. This is the time of year when everybody wants to discuss taxes even if they are nowhere near finished accumulating all the information to do the returns. To be honest I look forward to these meetings very much. I am happy with the friendly relationships I have with almost all my clients. This is an opportunity for me to catch up on the families. Who had a baby - who graduated - who got married - etc.
I learned very early the importance of building personal relationships in business. Some people try to treat people one way in personal situations and differently in regards to business. How many times have we heard someone say - well that's business. But, I found that I could be my most successful when I took the time to build personal relationships with clients and not just arms length business deals. And it makes work a lot more fun.
